8 Key Benefits of Cloud Services | Intercom Cloud
8 Key Benefits of Cloud Services Symphony Cloud First off, it's useful to bear in mind that the "Cloud" is not a single physical entity but an extensive worldwide network of remote servers, each dedicated to specific functions. Thanks to this architecture, IT services that were traditionally hosted in-house can be made available anywhere in the world over an Internet connection – no need for locally installed software. Benefit #1 Central management of global infrastructures Thanks to cloud-native communication, operators of buildings are no longer limited to in-house IT equipment when it comes to building communication and security. Instead, they can easily manage the networked communication components across multiple sites for potentially many thousands of tenants in locations all over the globe - instantaneously, with just a few gestures on their mobile device. Benefit #2 Easy deployment of security updates and new functions Cloud support also takes the hassle out of deploying security updates and adding new functions to intercom stations. Newly deployed software releases and firmware updates by Commend instantly raise the security or functionality of every connected device to the next level - without any interruption for users. Benefit #3 Full-scale platform updates in the background Even updates of the entire Symphony platform itself are a breeze. Gone are the days of system update downtimes that had to be scheduled carefully to minimise interruptions for users. Cloud natives like Symphony perform their updates in the background, with new functions (instead of interruptions) as the only clue that an update has taken place. Benefit #4 Unlimited scalability Cloud services come with the crucial advantage of being easily and instantly scalable to virtually any size. For customers, this means that they only have to pay for what they actually use. Unified communication easily and instantly scales up or down to anything between single-tenant arrangements to global multi-site complexes with 100,000 tenants. In terms of consumer costs, these are good weather clouds indeed. Benefit #5 Instant universal accessibility Characteristically, cloud services like Symphony Cloud communication can be accessed anywhere, everywhere. Where you install your Intercom stations doesn’t matter – whether it’s here or on the other side of the globe. You can always rely on them running the latest software. And since that software is maintenance-free, there is no need to bother with user rights management either. So in terms of administration, the clouds are lifting as well, thanks to cloud services. Benefit #6 No need for in-house IT management This is another cost-saving factor to take into account. Symphony's IT is all managed and maintained by Commend and its infrastructure partners. After all, you wouldn't expect to drive a hired chauffeur-driven car yourself, would you? Benefit #7 Full compliance with ISO 27001 Symphony cloud services are natively designed to conform fully with ISO/IEC 27001 information security standards on security risk management and security controls. Benefit #8 Compliance with data privacy regulations Data privacy is a hot issue - and a top priority in the design of Symphony cloud services, from the concept stage through to development and implementation. " Privacy and security by design " (and not as a half-hearted add-on) is crucial when it comes to meeting data protection legislation (e.g., the EU's General Data Protection Regulation). It's also essential for fortifying cloud services against cyber threats of various kinds. Symphony Cloud

Logic Control Module | ComPLC for Intercom Systems
Controlling and signalling ComPLC – Smart boost for logic control With the ComPLC software package we offer a powerful solution that makes it easy, efficient and flexible to control the behaviour of equipment within a Commend Intercom environment. The software can be used in combination with the Intercom Server’s built-in standard set of I/O control functions and adds the ability to communicate directly with third-party systems via standard protocols such as ModbusTCP (for industrial equipment), KNX (for building equipment) and Commend’s own ICX (for Intercom equipment). This way, it is possible to custom configure a wide range of behaviours across all connected systems. Drag-and-drop ease ComPLC comes with its own configuration GUI, which is extremely easy and intuitive to use. All elements can be placed and arranged by simple dragging and dropping, which makes programming even complex logic signal controls a breeze, even for operators with only a basic technical understanding. Although very easy to use and learn, ComPLC offers an extremely flexible set of control elements. This gives operators the freedom to cover virtually any control scenario and fine-tune their control sequences to their every need – all without the need for special software. Once the configuration of the logic control sequence is finished, it can be uploaded and run on a VirtuoSIS software-based Intercom Server. Examples Here are some interesting examples that leverage the power of ComPLC Automatic sending of e-mails in case of specific Intercom system events (e. g., if a device or connection fails). Time-controlled event sequences involving any combination of devices (e. g., door opens in the morning and closes in the evening; a building alarm is armed automatically one minute after locking the main entrance door). Automatic time-scheduled volume adjustment for Intercom stations and loudspeakers (e. g., high volume during the day, low volume overnight). Monitoring of third-party equipment via SNMP (e. g., automatically texting IT staff or showing a message at the Control Desk in case of a router failure). Configuring mantrap arrangements as used in banks or high-security areas (whenever one door opens, the other one closes automatically. And many more possibilities Built-in troubleshooting support A special feature highlight introduced with ComPLC is called “Online Mode”: clicking a button on the user interface will list all traced operations of the custom configured logic controls in real-time. Especially when it comes to tracking design errors in logic control sequences, operators will find this an extremely useful feature that will save them a lot of time and effort.

High Availability | Symphony Cloud Solutions
Ensuring Uninterrupted Performance High Availability Symphony Cloud Cloud ‘native’ systems don’t come in single-block all-in-one units but are made up of numerous ‘micro-service’ components. As a result, complex systems to be broken down into individual, easy-to-manage sub-systems, each performing a specific task and being fine-tuned for optimum availability . This way, database servers can be linked into clusters, redundant systems can be load-balanced for fail-safety , and specific services (such as user authentication) can be pooled or provided ‘as a service’ (aaS) with a guaranteed availability. Symphony cloud’s VoIP sub-system runs on redundant Intercom servers which are load-balanced by way of equally redundant gateways. These in turn make use of load balancers that are provided by Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform in a redundant configuration. Highly professional IT landscape at affordable rates For a single customer project, of course, such a technically and financially elaborate setup would never be economically viable. But since its resources (and costs) are shared among large numbers of clients, even small-scale system users can profit from this highly professional IT landscape at affordable rates. Keep things going in the rare instances when the cloud connection fail In case of a temporary loss of the cloud connection a special mode maintains 'business as usual' via Symphony Mesh with only a few exceptions (e.g. mobile services and some back-office functions like claiming new devices or registering new users). Constantly up-to-date and features over night Updates , patches and releases poses a huge challenge to service availability and how to update an entire system that never sleeps and people depend on around the clock? The answer are cloud solutions because they are constantly updated without the user or operator noticing anything. On the contrary, new functions are available overnight and open up new possibilities. Symphony Cloud

The Making of a Symphony | Intercom Cloud
Privacy and Security by Design The Making of a Symphony Symphony Cloud Symphony Cloud is developed in accordance with its ‘ Privacy and Security by Design ’ product policy, coding guidelines and other measures. As such, these measures go a long way towards ensuring security as a built-in product feature. Accordingly, Symphony software has to run the gamut of some of the toughest trial and testing routines in the business before a single line of its code is released. Each individual change submitted by a developer is subjected to a series of thorough human inspections and automated tests . These include, among many others, Unit tests (will the new function work as intended?) Regression tests (can unwanted interference with existing functions be ruled out?) Penetration tests (has the new function introduced new security vulnerabilities?) Load tests (will the function scale to global requirements?) DevSecOps The live system is also constantly monitored for performance and availability , using fully automated tests and latest-generation AI technologies . This allows Commend’s Symphony engineers to take proactive action against possible problems. The technical term for this holistic Development and Operating process is ‘DevOps’ or “ DevSecOps ”, which includes the security aspect of Commend’s “ Privacy and Security by Design ” policy, to become the driving force behind the high availability of Commend Symphony services that users can rely on.
