in Salzburg

Overview

Challenge

The project aimed to transform the train stations Oberndorf and Bürmoos into inclusive, multimodal hubs, positioning them for future growth. By improving accessibility, the. stations needed to ensure that passengers of all abilities can easily obtain information and assistance. Enhanced safety measures would increase passengers’ sense of security. The stations also focus on providing clear, visible information to meet the evolving needs of commuters. Advertising options needed to be integrated to support commercial interests. Reliable communication systems were substantial to address both routine inquiries and emergencies, ensuring comprehensive support. Overall, the train stations were to turn into modern, well-equipped stations that serve as welcoming, efficient transit points for all.

Customer Information

Salzburg Linien serves as the primary provider of essential services to Salzburg residents, encompassing electricity, lighting, water, heating, internet, television, and communication.

Solution

The train stations were equipped with an information kiosk from Smart Alliance. Integrated in these from Commend are our IP intercom module im6, I/O extension module EB3E2A-AUD, the camera module cm1, loudspeaker LS15, two MIC 480, and haptic buttons.

Apart from that, this is the Commend technology active at the train station Bürmoos:

Public address:

  • 3 x AF 125H hybrid amplifier
  • 2 x AF 250H, for platform sound reinforcement
  • 32 x ceiling-mounted loudspeakers
  • 16 x pressure chamber loudspeakers

Intercom stations:

  • 5 x SIP-WS211VDA, wall-mounted intercom station according to ÖNORM B1600 - Disability Equality Act
  • 5x WSVHHSOS-GL, WS half module with bell push-button, tactile information

Bathroom for passengers with disabilities:

  • 1 x SIP-WS212VG, wall-mounted intercom station
  • 1 x pull switch with pull cord
  • 1 x LED signal light V2A steel with buzzer (outside)

We delivered additional video surveillance equipment produced by AXIS.

Result

A public address system is installed on both the underpass and platforms, ensuring effective communication at all times. Emergency call points are located on the platform, offering 24/7 access to immediate assistance and enhancing safety with clear communication at the push of a button. All facilities are designed with accessibility in mind, catering to people with disabilities.

Passengers receive infotainment via Smart Alliance displays and IP public address on demand, providing additional support for visually impaired individuals. A video system is also integrated, featuring haptic buttons for ease of use by disabled passengers. The solution is not only safety focused but also economical, with the potential for display advertising on the screens.

The hardware server S6, including Software Intercom Server VirtuoSIS for virtualized IT environments and the control centre are located at the headquarter in the city of Salzburg. The control desk is manned 24/7 and all calls are processed there. To guarantee that the system will always be up to date, a Commend Upgrade Subscription for VirtuoSIS ensures that the customers is using the latest software and can profit from new features with every update.
