Overview

The  AFLS-H-P is the world’s first IP-based horn speaker that combines high-volume audio broadcasting capabilities with a powerful, configurable LED strobe light in a single device. Equipped with these unique capabilities, it is designed to effectively amplify any message – from preventive warning and de-escalation announcements to alerts and everyday information broadcasts – by addressing the eyes as well as the ears.

The human brain is a masterful detector of change and is evolutionarily programmed to respond with lightning-fast reactions to sudden environmental stimuli (predator/prey).

While acoustic warning signals and voice announcements play an essential part in security technology, our visual system is biologically wired to react much faster when stimulated by light signals. A powerful flashing light perfectly simulates the type of movement that ‘tricks’ our brain into focussing immediately and automatically on the light source.

Which colours are supported by the strobe light?

Depending on the application scenario and the desired effect (e.g., warning, deterring or de-escalating), various lighting modes such as flashing, flashing speed or steady light can be configured, and the colours red, green, blue, white, orange and pink are supported.

Why is direct confrontation the most effective way to ward off intruders?

Studies and statistical evaluations conducted by security service providers have shown that the effectiveness of IP Speakers rests on three key functions:

  1. Removing anonymity: Perpetrators will feel safe as long as they believe themselves to be undetected. Addressing an intruder directly, as in “The person in the red jacket, please leave the premises immediately!” lets them know that they have been detected and are being monitored.

Is the speaker also suitable for extremely noisy environments?

Yes, the speaker is built specifically for use in environments that are subject to high and changeable levels of noise pollution. Its built-in Intelligent Volume Control (IVC) function allows it to automatically adjust the volume setting to the ambient noise level. Built-in Smart Amp technology enables extra high volume amplification without the need for any additional power source.

Can the device withstand harsh environmental conditions?

Absolutely. The IP Horn Speaker features a highly robust and durable design that ensures reliable operation even under harsh conditions. It also offers high-level protection against vandalism (IK 10) and is protected against dirt and powerful water jets in accordance with IP66. A waterproof and breathable seal prevents condensation from forming inside the housing when there are significant temperature differences.

How is two-way communication possible with a horn speaker?

The speaker leverages OpenDuplex® technology in combination with AI-based noise and echo suppression (Cleans Voice from Noise). This allows it to efficiently suppress background noise and highlight the voice sound being transmitted.

How does the IP Horn Speaker have to be connected and powered?

Since the system eliminates the need for complex wiring, it can be integrated into a network using a standard Power over Ethernet (PoE IEEE 802.3af/at) connection via the RJ45 port. This connection automatically provides the device with the required operating power, eliminating the need for PoE+ or any additional power supply.

Can the speaker be integrated into existing security systems?

Thanks to its SIP, API and I/O capabilities and ONVIF support, the speaker integrates smoothly and easily into VMS, PSIM or other security management platforms.

Is the system protected against cyber attacks?

Cyber security is a top priority in line with Commend’s product policy of “Privacy and Security by Design”.
