Secure Today – Prepared for Tomorrow
Cybercrime increasingly threatens companies and critical infrastructures . To counter this, new laws in accordance with the NIS-2 and RCE directives will come into force in Europe from October 2024, setting high cybersecurity standards . Let’s dive into NIS-2 and how our solutions can support companies subject to the resulting national laws : The NIS-2 directive aims to unify cyber security within the EU and must be transformed into national law by October. Companies to which it applies must implement organizational, operational, and technical measures to mitigate network and information security risks , covering physical and supply chain security as well. And even if these regulations don’t apply directly to you, it is always better to ensure your systems are cyber-secure for smooth business operations . At Commend, we focus on the highest security standards . Brescia Mobilità | Urban Mobility Communication
Success Story: Keeping up with new technologies to manage the city's mobility Brescia Mobilità Overview Challenge Solution Result Free download Challenge A long-standing customer of Commend Italia with almost 30 Intercom servers in operation for over 10 years and 850 Intercoms distributed among car parks, bike sharing stations and ticket vending machines in the underground, Brescia Mobilità needed a technological upgrade to improve system performance; replace products that had been out of production for a long time, although still operational; have an up-to-date system with the latest technological advances, flexible and easily implementable with new future functionalities; provide a reliable solution to improve pedestrian and vehicle access management. Customer Information Brescia Mobilità SpA is a company of Brescia’s Municipality established to implement and manage the city's mobility in an integrated manner with the aim of improving the liveability of the territory. More info Solution Almost all Intercom servers were replaced in order to modernise the system. To date 23 Intercom servers are operational, connected via LAN to the virtual Intercom server VirtuoSIS , acting as master. Connected to VirtuoSIS is the master operator station, redundant via App on smartphones, the Intercoms installed at the BiciMia bike sharing stations and at the ticket machines at metro stops. The master operator station receives call transfers from remote operators and is equipped with Studio for easier call management using graphical maps, integration of existing cameras, recording of conversations for documentation purposes and the possibility of creating statistics related to system performance. Also thanks to the new system configuration and the new Cloud functionality, it was possible to implement Ivy – the world’s first Conversational AI-based intercom assistant – capable of handling calls, providing multilingual support and, depending on the programming, performing higherlevel functions such as, in this case, handling the very large number of calls coming from pedestrian entrances from users without a ticket because they are Telepass users. Result The system upgrade made it possible to achieve all the objectives set by the customer. As of now, the system has made it possible to benefit from the most up-to-date features in the management of communication with customers. The system was modernised and prepared for future needs, and was made more efficient and flexible while retaining all the basic original features. Customer service has been improved. In particular, Ivy has brought to light some incredible data on the number of calls generated by Telepass users alone. In the first (and only) car park where Ivy was implemented, over 5600 calls were managed in a period of almost 4 months, Ivy’s resolution was around 60% of the total calls, forwarding the remaining 40% to the master operator. A technological revolution that considerably reduces the workload of operators. Gradually Ivy will also be implemented in all other managed car parks. This new configuration, based on the introduction of Symphony Bridge, will allow access to the new features offered by Symphony Cloud and use the new, more modern Symphony App instead of the Intercom Client. The replacement of the Intercom Servers, however, meant that the Intercom terminals already in operation in the car parks could be retained, thus saving a considerable amount of money. The new configuration with VirtuoSIS also allowed a reduction in the number of installed servers, improving the return on investment (R.O.I.) A perfect demonstration of how Evergreen Technology is real, future-proof and applicable even to legacy systems. More than ever before, we prove with facts, once again, that Evergreen Technology and Trusted. Communication. The New Symphony Control Desk: A Leap Towards Modernisation and Cyber Security
Our "Evergreen Technology" approach ensures that classic products remain compatible with the latest innovations, future-proofing your investment. Therefore, it is now possible to receive call requests from classic intercom stations, including IP, digital, or even analog devices at your Symphony control desk. But why should you consider upgrading to the new Symphony Control Desk in the first place? The answer is simple: it enables your operators to handle calls more efficiently. Our Symphony control desks bring a significant upgrade in functionality, offering enhanced user-friendliness for control center staff. Previously, we introduced several features that streamline operations, which you can read about here: New Symphony Control Desk - Intuitive, Efficient, and Cyber Secure . Among its many capabilities is the ability to manage varying call requests through 10 programmable call queues , allowing operators to swiftly address crises with device-based queue subscriptions. It allows you to define five call priorities , which help differentiate between e.g. life-threatening situations, informational inquiries, and technical issues, ensuring urgent calls are prioritized appropriately. Additionally, the Symphony Control Desk allows rapid call forwarding to another queue when multiple calls arrive at the same time, improving response efficiency. If a higher-priority call comes in while an operator is busy, they can park the current call in the queue for a colleague to handle or retrieve it later. Integrating Symphony’s call management system with a traditional control desk offers a powerful combination of modern and legacy features, boosting operational efficiency. An additional feature is that operators can now connect to multiple call queues simultaneously . For example, a parking lot operator managing garages in different cities—such as Salzburg, Vienna, and Graz—no longer needs to manually select which location’s calls to receive. Instead, they can connect to one, two, or all three queues at the same time, greatly improving response times and call management efficiency. So what does it mean for you? Being able to receive calls from classic intercom stations at your Symphony Control Desk ensures that control rooms can access Symphony’s user-friendly functions without needing to replace every intercom station in the system. Moreover, the Symphony Control Desk is the first of its kind to provide a cyber-secure solution, allowing organizations to maintain high security standards without overhauling their entire existing infrastructure. Ultimately, the Symphony Control Desk empowers organizations with a more intuitive, secure, and efficient way to manage their communications, benefiting both operators and customers alike.

Enhancing Urban Safety and Accessibility with Audio Technology
In an age where cities are constantly seeking smarter, safer, and more accessible solutions, integrating audio technology into urban spaces has emerged as a game-changer. By combining audio with existing camera-based systems, cities can gain a more holistic view of events, allowing real-time responses to dynamic situations that cameras alone cannot address. Unlike traditional CCTV, audio systems allow for two-way communication, empowering city authorities to i nteract directly with citizens. These solutions include intercoms at public transport stops, help points in city centers, talking cameras in crowded areas, and many more, creating safer and more interactive environments.
